The 2017 Older Americans Month theme, (left) Age Out Loud!, encourages older Americans to amplify their voices and be heard!

2017 Older Americans Month Material is Now Available

Each May, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) reminds us of the importance of living longer, healthier and more inclusive lives by celebrating Older Americans Month (OAM). This year’s theme, Age Out Loud!, reminds us that today’s older adults have plenty to say.

More than ever before, seniors are an important part of their communities. They’re taking charge, striving for wellness, focusing on independence, and advocating for themselves and others. What it means to age has changed, and OAM 2017 is a perfect opportunity to recognize and celebrate what getting older looks like today.

So what does it mean to Age out Loud? Older Americans are encouraged to get involved with their communities in a variety of ways—through work, travel, learning new things, and sharing their talents with others.

What are you doing to help support healthy aging in your community? Visit oam.acl.gov for resources that can help Older Americans Age Out Loud!
